The ESPON Climate project “Climate change and territorial effects on regions and local economies” has focused on the impacts of climate change on European regions and their economies as well as the consequences for spatial planning. Thus the projects analysed regional sensitivities towards climate stimuli and the likely effects of climate change on European regions also considering territorially differentiated adaptive capacities. As result the project developed a new typology on regional vulnerability towards climate change and consequences in in terms of European cohesion and regional policy.
