The Centre for Study and Project Affairs is responsible for the educational quality management providing student advice service in all phases of the study, coordination of the school's courses and organisation of the project based learning in the School of Spatial Planning. This includes the preparation, planning, organisation, documentation and scientific monitoring of the about 25 student projects conducted at the School of Spatial Planning each year as well as of the organisation of the tutor programme for first-year projects.

The Centre's work also comprises the planning and organising of each year's 'orientation weeks' for the about 150 new first-year students, organising the formation of projects, counselling students and project supervisors in the choice of project themes, supporting project supervisors through didactic advice, training and advising project tutors, administrating project budgets provided by the Department and documenting the experience of the project work and exchanging it with other planning departments and educational institutions. The Centre for Study and Project Affairs publishes a series of papers and tutorials for group project work, Materialien zur Projektarbeit. In addition the staff of the Project Centre have developed their own fields of teaching and research.
