LIRLAP - Linking disaster risk governance and land-use planning: the case of informal settlements in hazard prone areas in The Philippines (2017- 2018)

The project LIRLAP, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) under the funding activity “Sustainable Development of Urban Regions”, aims at the development and testing of measures for a strategic risk mitigation for informal settlements. Funding is granted to projects that help to increase the resilience of cities, their surrounding area and urban regions. Here, Manila serves as a pilot city to develop transferable concepts.

Centrepiece of the initiation phase (1.10.17-31.3.18) is a stakeholder workshop to:

-

-                 - identify concerns and interests of actors on a national, regional and local level

-                 - define strategic goals, research questions and methods for the main phase

-                 - discuss suitable, sustainable, and socially acceptable solutions for informal settlements at risk

-                 - identify case studies and possibilities for co-financing

-                 - develop a work plan for the scoping phase
