Integrative flood risk governance approach for improvement of risk awareness and increased public participation
The project aimed at an improved management of flood risks remaining within areas protected by dykes. Often residents are not aware of these remaining risks that in case of an emergency lead to immense damages and losses due to non-adapted urban structures. In cooperation both with water boards (in Austria, Italy and Germany) and the concerned public suitable approaches were developed and tested for an appropriate management of these risks in European case studies in Austria (Möll river), Germany (Wupper river) and Italy (Chiascio river).
