Prof. em. Dr. Dr. e.h. Gerd Albers passed away

The Faculty of Spatial Planning grieves for its "founding father" Gerd Albers. The late Gerd Albers was Professor Emeritus and former Rector of the Technical University of Munich and died on January 31 at the age of 95.

Gerd Albers was Architect and Urban Planner. He was Chair of the Department for "Urban and Regional Planning" at the Technische Universität München (TUM) from 1961 until his retirement in 1987. As rector he headed the TUM from 1965 to 1968.

Prof. em. Dr. Dr. e.h. Gerd Albers was chairman of the committee that - in 1966 - recommended to establish a School of Spatial Planning in Dortmund. As well Gerd Albers created a first draft of an independent academic course named "spatial planning"
