Going Abroad

Study Abroad

Many students spend a semester abroad. For this purpose the School of Spatial Planning makes use of the Socrates/Erasmus-programme of the European Commission. Its purpose is to encourage student exchanges and cooperation between universities.

By this time the School of Spatial Planning maintains an EEA-agreement with 31 universities in 15 EU member states, states subscribed to the EEA-agreement respectively associated states subscribes to a cooperation agreement for the exchange of students. By the means of these agreements 68 students can study abroad each year. The procedure of application and allocation is coordinated by the Socrates/Erasmus-Representative of the School of Spatial Planning (Dr. Mehdi Vazifedoost).

In addition students are able to study at one of the school’s partner universities or establish relations on individual initiative.

Contentual comparable achievements, adduced abroad, can be credited via the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

Projects abroad

Student projects dealing with planning subjects in foreign countries are offered on a regular basis. These student projects have to be prepared by the lecturer in a way that one or two short excursions or one for several weeks can be accomplished. The Archive contains a list of all student projects from 1969 untill 2007.

Internship abroad

 

Furthermore many students use the option to organise internships abroad. Internships abroad can be credited via the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) as part of the Bachelor Course.

Excursions abroad

The units and facilities of the School also offer excursions detached from the student projects which can also lead to foreign countries. Examples for excursions abroad from the last semesters are Poland, Mexico or the USA.
