The Program Master of Spatial Planning for Regions in Growing Economies (SPRING) will be continued as a two-year program (four terms). Its language of instruction is English.
The Master of Regional Development Planning and Management (SPRING – Spatial Planning for Regions in Growing Economies) consists of four semesters and is taught in English. The SPRING program addresses increasing educational demands in developing countries for decentralised development and management strategies. Along with an international network of universities in Ghana, Tanzania, Chile, and the Philippines, the School of Spatial Planning at the University of Dortmund offers the SPRING Master Program. The program enhances management capabilities of participants and broadens their knowledge of theories and methods of spatially oriented development planning in both rural and urban areas. The first year of study takes place at the University of Dortmund. In the second year, students study at one of the partner universities to apply their knowledge by creating development plans for a district or a region. Since its inception in 1984, some 500 students from 25 countries have participated in the SPRING program.
