Collaboration for visiting students and scientists from Japan at the Faculty of Spatial Planning

The TU Dortmund Technical University’s Faculty of Spatial Planning as the largest educational institute of its kind in Europe is specialized in multi-thematic spatial planning for cities, urban landscapes and regions. Our Faculty is well integrated into the German as well as European spatial planning network. For Japanese researches, we provide equipped working spaces and access to the university’s library funds.

We offer students and scientists to visit our institute and join our designated research teams to take part in and/or to perform joint research projects. Further, we are open to new proposals of our Japanese colleagues.

Current research and educational fields to be joined:

  1. Research Network ‚Reinventing Shrinking Cities‘ (Forschungsnetzwerk ‚Erneuerung Schrumpfender Städte‘)
  2. Lifecycles of Suburban Spaces (Lebenszyklen Suburbaner Räume)
  3. Regional Conversion by International Building Exhibition IBA- Emscher Park Revisited
  4. Visiting Prof. of Urban Design for the New Master Program (from Fall 2012)
  5. Receiving up Japanese students into one of the new Master Programs of the Faculty of Spatial Planning in Collaboration with the DAAD
