Private property for the poor? Land development for poverty reduction
"This lecture focuses on the critical issue of capitalization through
formalisation of land rights following Hernando de Soto. Using the example
of the Kingdom of Cambodia, it provides an overview on real estate and land
development for poverty reduction. In this country, 'land grabbing'
and foreign direct investment (FDI) mirror the increasing economic pressure
on the resource land. Strategies of German development cooperation in
Southeast Asia seek to combine spatial planning implementation with
partnership farming approaches in rural areas."
