Spatially significant developments in mega-urban regions

Regarding global processes of urbanization, the research of the SRP primarily focuses on developing countries, where these dynamic processes are taking place under conditions of vast poverty, massive deterioratin of the environment and social and economic disparities. The research looks at spatial, infrastructural and social phenomena that are often integrated in complex, non-transparent and politically determined constellations of actors. Two main goals are central to the SRP's research: firstly, contributing to the understanding of these processes and structures, and secondly, initiating a theoretical and practical discourse on and reflections of strategies, instruments and transparent processes of spatial planning.
