Welcome to the Dortmund Conference 2012 on Spatial Planning Research

The School of Spatial Planning in association with the Academy for Spatial Research and Planning (ARL) cordially invite you to participate in the first Dortmund Conference 2012 on Spatial Planning Research, February 9-10, 2012, on 'The Mobile and the Immobile -development and transformation of the mobile – the movement of people, objects, and ideas'.

The aim of this conference is to establish a forum for the presentation and discussion of current topics in spatial planning. We understand spatial planning as an interdisciplinary profession with a focus on target-oriented development of certain areas in theory and practice. 'Spatial planning research' in this context refers to the basics in planning and decision theory, while in a broad sense it includes the production of knowledge on spatial change and related drivers and forms in specific social and historical situations.

The conference is the first in a projected biennial series of conferences that aim to foster networking and exchange of knowledge derived from research in planning as well as from other spatial research, be it from a technical, natural or social science perspective.
